Valdicava Rosso di Montalcino 2014, Montalcino –Tuscany
90 points Vinous
-Another vintage where Vincenzo Abbruzzese has declassified his Brunello, so, much like the 2011 vintage, the 2014 Rosso is all of the Brunello juice at a fraction of the cost.
"The 2014 Rosso di Montalcino represents the majority of the harvest in a year that was extremely challenging and plagued with rain in the days leading up to the harvest. A pleasant, fruit-driven Rosso, the 2014 is an attractive wine to drink now and over the next 2-3 years, while the fruit retains its brightness. Sweet spice and floral notes add an attractive upper register through to the supple finish. There is a limit to what Abbruzzese and his long-time winemaker Attilio Pagli could do in 2014, and this is it” – Galoni

Wine Spectator - "Loads of balsamic aromas and flavors-juniper, rosemary, thyme, olive-along with cherry, sanguine and tobacco notes are the hallmarks of this intense red. Well-integrated and complex, building to a long aftertaste. Best from 2012 through 2035."
